Hi! I've been out of college for about three years now and have gotten married. My last name has changed. Do I need to change it with my undergrad school or will the "other name" part on the application explain this? I don't want my transcripts to be confused! (Called the office and they said I'd need to check with the schools.)

I'm in the same boat as you and was told to change my name with my undergrad institutions and request updated transcripts reflecting this.

Although I changed my last name due to continuous confusion between myself and my father, I would think the same would apply to anyone who's changed his/her last name after graduation.

Please let us know if you find out something different.

My last name changed as well. What happens is when you put in a request for a transcript from the school, it will ask your current name and any previous name you may have held (i.e. pre-married last name).

About half my UG transcripts had my maiden name and half had my married name (transferred a LOT). I applied and didn't make the cut last year, but the name issue wasn't a big deal. Like Washingtonian said, you just put your current name and former name on the transcript request. On AMCAS, the "other name" section covers all your bases.
