I've been taking a few princeton review bio passage tests. And I came across a situation where they wanted me to name a dissacharide sugar.

Does dissaccharide naming come up frequently on the mcat? You would think they expect you to know all the simple sugars, but not every dissaccharide combination.

Sorry I'm still new to taking mcat passages. 🙂

For monosaccharides, I would know glucose, ribose, and fructose. For disaccharides, I would know lactose, sucrose, and maybe cellobiose and maltose (at least know how the glycosidic linkage differs between the two). I seriously doubt that you would be asked to name a disaccharide on the MCAT, but you never know what those silly MCAT-writers will come up with! Definitely know about epimers, anomers, and chirality within sugars. Good luck!
