I just graduated with PharmD this month. I am planning to take Naplex in Sept or early Oct. I am so scared of failing my first try. Plus my pharmacy school has a running bet on who will pass or fail the first time taking exam...Can you believe that??

Questions:
Is this enough time to prepare? I have to start working in mid-Sept. so I won't have the luxury of studying at home for 4-6 hours per day.
I will be using APHA green book and ProntoPass cards/posters. I also have the Shargel book. My math skills are very weak.👎

Any advice will be appreciated. I have been reading this forum for the last week and it is unbelievably helpful. Thank you for all who give insight.

Congrats to all who have passed already. Thanks.

A lot of people have used the APHA book and went in and passed.. I think it's an overkill and a waste of time. It really kinda fucuses on the disease state too much .. I would skim through the "pathophysiology/epidemiology/all that nonsence that they don't ask about in the NAPLEX" section in the APHA and would focus on the drugs and the pharmacology..

Also I didn't like the APHA's questions, they were too much disease oriented.. I really did like the Shargel questions. The SHargel questions were drug oriented which is what the real NAPLEX is like.

I also did the appleton and lange Review of Pharmacy book.. just a book with a bunch of questions .. the CD that comes with it is priceless.. like it has a bunch of exams (like full length.. you know .. 200 questions per exam..) and you can design your exam(like pick how many questions you want and stuff).. The cool thing is, those questions are MOST SIMILAR to the real NAPLEX!!!

The KAPLAN Q-Bank is pretty good too.. their answers are pretty extensive.. like the answers will basically teach you what you need to know on the topic.. You get a month access to a little over a 1000 questions for a $100.. not a bad deal. I did about 600 of those.

Was "Please let Greg Brown bring peaches to your wedding" helpful? If so, I'm going to get at least one point!....

Yes, it is very helpful. One of my professors mentioned that we may have a question on colors of coumadin. I hope I get 2 or 3 of those types of questions. 🙂

I used Prontopass (posters and cards) mainly, APha (only the Anemia section), Appleton and Lange (just do the sample exam few days before the actual Naplex). I passed 🙂 I got about 20 math questions. So you'll definitely need to know your math well.

Some tricky math question for PTN; some for ppm; some isotonicity; some adjusting dose based on CrCl, etc. Only 2 HIV drugs question. 0 Cancer question. 10 OTC questions and the rest was random. It varies from Drug interaction to Contraindication to Therapeutic equivalent, etc.... but you'll need to know your Brand and Generic well and which forms are available. Some graphs and you'll need to be able to tell Steady State, Time to Peak, etc. Then IV or PO base on the graph. Good luck!:hardy:
