Hello all,

I'm currently an undergraduate student and my abstract was accepted for the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the Association of American Physicians (ASCI/AAP) Joint Meeting. 'm also applying to MD/PhD programs this upcoming application cycle and I was wondering how much of an advantage this would give my application to have presented at this national conference. Along these lines, I am first author on this abstract which will be presented and am co-author on another abstract from the lab and I was wondering if published abstracts count as being "published" in a way.

Thanks in advance for the responses.

It's probably good to have presented at a poster session, but do not confuse a "published" abstract with a publication in a peer reviewed journal. Will it help you, sure. Doing anything is always better than nothing. Will it help as much as a peer reviewed journal article? No. Does it matter what conference you presented at? Almost certainly not. Is a poster required to get into md/phd programs? No, I'm sure people have gotten in without. Will it push you into the interview category at any given school? Who knows, probably not, but it can't hurt.
