I received this email (attached below) last week, and have a few questions about it. (Hopefully some of you Navy Docs will be able to lend some insight).
These numbers do not include returning GMOs who may have changed their mind regarding their specialty and therefore may be applying for GME1 positions, right?
I'm applying to OB at Portsmouth for my #1 choice. With only 14 people applying for 13 positions, does this mean that I'm virtually guaranteed a spot? (barring some unforeseen surge in applications from returning GMOs for OBGYN PGY1 spots).

1. As promised, "FIRST CHOICE" numbers are below. I will not break them
down by hospital but I will tell you that San Diego is always the most
popular site. And that is true again this year except for PSY, which is
spread relatively evenly.
Number of Navy GME-1 positions available: FP--43; MED--58; OB--13; PEDS--21
(may decrease to 19); PSY--11; SUR--50; TRA--62.
Number of Students Asking For:
