I find the Navy's response really interesting. No where in their plan of addressing the serious short fall in Navy medical personel do they consider the fact that the overall pool of medical students don't want to join the military and that those that do would rather join the Army or the Air Force? It is a classic example of "The Emperor's New Clothes". Absolute denial of what everyone else can see with crystal clarity.

The Navy is the only military branch left that is still having a love affair with the GMO. Yeah, the air force and army still do it every now and then, but it is more like the ugly step sister that you keep locked in the back closet when company comes over.

The military needs to wake up and combine all medical assets from all the branches into a single medical branch with it's own command structure and the ability to run how it see's fit to run. Granted, I am proposing the creation of the largest HMO in america, run by the single most inefficient entity in America. Yes I will put the bong down, and step away slowly.

On the other hand...with the democrats and libs looking to take hold of this country (and military) by the short curlies, socialized medicine is on the way whether you like it or not.

The article states:

The worksheet indicates the audit will examine key questions, such as whether the Navy medical program has capitalized on using the Internet for recruiting. Auditors plan to determine whether there are better ways to find and assign markets and more efficient ways to access communities. The review is supposed to evaluate the effectiveness of the recruiters' marketing pitch.

How reassuring. Glad to see they have a handle on the problem.

I love how they make sound like, if the pitch was right, people would be beating down their doors to join the Navy! OOOOH! I know what it is, they aren't using the internet right! That solves it all, build a website!
