What is people's take on joining the NAVY to pay for dental school?

I say don't do it...this is in no way me just trying to increase my chances 😉

I'm for it, even if you don't make it a career. On top of paying for dental school with the HPSP, if you get out and specialize afterwards you'll have the GI Bill to pay for that as well.

I think it’s a smart thing to do nowadays. Dental school is expensive and being able to graduate debt free with a decent salary is a no brainer in my opinion. Plus not all of your income is taxable so your pay is actually pretty similar to civilian side at least for the first few years.

One of the perio residents at my school is actually using his GI bill right now! It cost almost 70k a year!
