my friends and i are puzzled by this dental anatomy question:

1989 #39:

In a right lateral excursion, the mesiofacial cusp of the maxillary right first molar passes through which of the following grooves of the mandibular right molar?

1. lingual groove
2. central groove
3. facial groove
4. distofacial groove

(answer key: lingual groove)

how is this possible? we pulled out our typodonts and tried out the right laterotrusion movement and it seems like the MESIOLINGUAL cusp of the maxillary right first molar passes through the lingual groove of the mandib. 1st molar...while the MESIOBUCCAL cusp of the max. 1st molar moves through the mesiobuccal groove of the mandib 1st molar... 😕 😕

any thoughts??

You're right. I just wrote it off as a mistake. Pretty scary that the answer key is wrong.

oh man...errors in the answer keys?? :scared: i can't believe it! i thought the errors in the decks were bad enough...that means we have to double check/cross reference everything before we take it as "believable info"... 🙁

gavin, you mentioned the international forum has lists of errors? would you be so kind as to post a link to that thread? thanks a bunch! 😛

Wasabi, there isn't one thread dedicated to it (well, actually I recall that there was but it only had one or two errors). Most of them just come up in the middle of conversations about other things.

I'll see if I can find some to link to, but no promises. Gotta study, you know.

hey gavin~

thanks! i took a look at some of the older international threads...they have some good links to website resources! but as you said...they're not really threads of their own...more mixed within a loooooooong conversation thread...good stuff tho~ 😀

i didn't really find the exam corrections...alas...you're right...i better get back to studying and stop browsing the sdn forum! 😛
