my friends and i are puzzled by this dental anatomy question:
1989 #39:
In a right lateral excursion, the mesiofacial cusp of the maxillary right first molar passes through which of the following grooves of the mandibular right molar?
1. lingual groove
2. central groove
3. facial groove
4. distofacial groove
(answer key: lingual groove)
how is this possible? we pulled out our typodonts and tried out the right laterotrusion movement and it seems like the MESIOLINGUAL cusp of the maxillary right first molar passes through the lingual groove of the mandib. 1st molar...while the MESIOBUCCAL cusp of the max. 1st molar moves through the mesiobuccal groove of the mandib 1st molar... 😕 😕
any thoughts??
