Anyone have an explanation for the high rate of failure of NBDE II for this year?

Anyone have an explanation for the high rate of failure of NBDE II for this year?

If I understood our dean correctly, it's because every few years NBDE reevaluates the cut off of whats pass/fail and this was the year they did that. Im sure there is more to it since the failure rate doubled from 6.3% to 12%
