Hello guys/gals , its good to be here 🙂 I wanted to share with you all my study schedule and matierals for step II. This is my first post. My ultimate goal is to do well on this examination and apply to oral medicine residencies throughout the country.
Matierals that I will use:
1. Mosby's Review for NBDE II (which I read is awesome)
2. Dental Decks 2004 (I'm wondering if someone can comment on any differences between the newer version and this one)
3. ASDA Released Exams, the most recent versions
4. Kaplan Prep Step II, which includes the book, detailed answers to the last 4 released exams, plus the videos (which I saw one yesterday at the KapCenter and they're pretty informative)
5. Kaplan Qbank 3months
6. Review matierals from Step I from the Kaplan Book
Since I work full time I will study 5 hours a day on the weekdays and 10-12 hrs on the weekends, so I'm thinking about 45 hrs per week
at a minimum, since I'm currently working as science teacher in a public school system I have all national holiday and several long weekends to really put in the time especially in xmas, which I'll have 2 weeks and I'm testing on Jan. 2-3.
The purpose of this thread will be general in nature but I hope to thoroughly review the aforementioned resources in an attempt to help others. I love to teach and I'm hoping to have an academic career in Oral Medicine which I think is an extraordinary and much needed specialty in the US. All we need to do is look around us and we'll see a multitude of patients that are medically compromised in some way, shape, or form ie. Diabetes, heart disease, etc. Anyway, I hope we can have a nice and informative exchange of ideas in this journey that is common to us all.🙂
