Just wondering if anyone only studied for a month for part 1 and passed. I'm getting married in mid-June and I'd like to take the test in early June so I can enjoy my wedding/honeymoon/summer. I went to the NBDE section of threads, but it seemed like none of the posts were in clear English (which makes me think that it's a bunch of international dentists). Any feedback would be appreciated. I know everyone is a little different in prep time.

At my school, most people only study for a month, or less

Well, that's good news. At your school do they give you a month off from all duties to study? Or do you study after clinic/class?

We get a our usual winter break then about 3 weeks off from everything. I'm not sure if people start studying before winter break. I know a good amount of people finished early then went about their break.

This is super helpful. Thanks! Did you guys take it after D1?

I also noticed it's mostly foreigners discussing NBDE stuff. That's why I imagine them studying much longer. D2s here report as little as a week of studying. Everyone maintains that anything over a month is too much. With 3 months off our first summer, that leaves a lot of kick back time before it goes year-round for the next 3 years. Kind of awesome. First-time pass rates are solid so far, so I guess the whole first-year boards & systemic modules seems to be working.

I'm planning on a week or two off after quarter ends, and then maybe 2-3 weeks of decks and old exams, supplemented by first aid and basic science review power points. Basic science instructors seem to know boards for different professions really well. As for class material, I'll probably only rely on pathology ppts. We'll see how it works out for me.

I think month will be plenty for you. Just get good materials and go at it hard...and then get married and enjoy the honeymoon. Congrats on that and good luck!
