I know that NBEO part I was revamped recently, so old posts on NBEO I prep material wasn't very helpful.

Who has taken the new NBEO part I, what did you use to study, and what were the pros and cons of the materials? What are some other study materials?

My school gives the option of taking review courses. Who has had experience with this and how did it turn out?

We had our KMK review course in December. It was absolutely 100% worth it. Even if you just buy their books without doing the course, still worth it. But the course does a really good job of telling you what you really need to know.

If you don't mind, how much were the books and course? The course is in December, but the test isn't until March. So you review everything in a month and then study on your own until March?

How much time did you spend preparing yourself for it?

Yeah, they do the course at all the schools (or most of them at least) so the dates of the course just depend on when they can get there. it's 5 days of 8-5 review so that's why ours was over break. I'm just studying on my own now. I don't have a specific study plan, just kind of going over each topic and spending more time on my weak areas/the areas that cover most of the test like anatomy and optics.

The course was almost $500. The books without the course are a little bit less (someone said that the course adds $100, so around $400 for the books). They have all this stuff on the KMK website. http://optometryboardsreview.com/ 🙂
