I last took Step1 in 2004. my exam expired and I am retaking it. One last chance to pass. I have several NBME's given as CD's through the prometric site. I have no idea what number they are. I have several questions.
1. would you use these cd's to study?

I am aware (but have not yet been to the website) that people are paying to take NBME's.
2. is it possible to NOT pay for them. Reason I am asking is that I am maxed out on federal and private loans.

NUMBERS of NBME's. what do they mean?
3. are they ordered from when they are 'put out'? meaning 1 was first and all the rest are more recent?

4. which should i start with?

5. which are most predictable?

Please help me with a strategy. Thank you.

I want to know the time alloted for each block in a NBME self assesment test. The two official link (can't post the, don't have enough likes) , one of which says 65 min, other 75 minutes. Any help?
