Hi,
I have been studying for Step 1 for the past 6+ weeks. Gone through Kaplan, DIT (2x), Kaplan Qbank, and currently 50% thru my second pass in UW, and 2nd pass in FA. I wanted to take a practice exam tomorrow - any suggestions on what would be best? UWSA or which NBME? I eventually want to do at least 4-5 of them. Hoping to write Step 1 within the next 4 weeks. I have only taken NBME #13 (in early December before my school's exit exam). Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks!!

NBME to gauge how well you're doing. UWSA is definitely harder but the grading is much more lenient. The NBME is relatively easy but the grading is much more harsh. In general, the NBME is the most accurate test in comparison to the actual Step. I also found it to be a little more difficult due to the grading system. However, my very last NBME I took was the exact same score on what I got on my Step 1.

You shouldn't use the NBME to study like U World. It's only to gauge how well you're doing. By all means learn what you missed but practice with other Q banks and not the NBME.

So I ended up doing UWSA 1. Hearing different things - that it overestimates / or is a good predictor. Will do an NBME in a few days....
