2 Questions for hard-hitters:

1. Are they retired because they are outdated, or just to give us something to hold on to...? Did you guys feel that the length/difficulty/style of the questions on NBME tests was similar to the real thing?
2. What can you say about the same parameters for the free 150 Qs from the usmle website?

i was wondering the same thing since i was offered some retired NBME questions from 1989 and 1991. Would anyone think these are worth studying?

They are not totally outdated, since a fair amount of people had identical questions appear on one of the NBME forms and on their Step 1 exam. The length/difficulty/style of the NBME forms and the 150Qs are very very similar to the real thing. That is the reason why everybody should do all 4 (actually now, 5) NBME forms and the 150Qs. You will have used the most representative Qbank out there, and possibly gotten some free points from repeat questions.
