nbme scoring

if you guys had to choose a cut-off score for the nbme test that would represent passing step 1, what would it be?

Actual Step 1: (mean = ~218, std = ~18, pass = 182 or ~2 std below mean).

My guess is that the NBME exam pass level would equal ~300 or low 300s (2 standard deviations below mean), considering that mean is set at 500 on the NBME and the standard deviation is 100.

The whole thing is a mystery to me, this is just my early morning logic going to work...

Passing is actually ~1.5 SD below the mean...(I know, semantics). I believe the STD is around 24.

I think 400 is a legitimate pass, anything under that is risky. But I also do not put as much stock in the predicitive value of these yet (seeing as how I havent gotten my score...if it comes back right on the money, then we'll see).

Again, 400 should put you in the clear, 350 is probably the minimum passing score.
