Congrats to everyone that got in........for those who didn't--don't get discouraged or take it personal....you never know who it is that is evaluating the apps....lots of highly qualified applicants get turned down.....I have a doctorate degree, own an equine breeding facility and have an interest in food animal and still got a rejection letter today....all things happen for a reason....
 
So I went through the whole day frustrated and I get a call from my bf that I have a letter from state in my apt mailbox... Not my permanent address. I don't know how this happened. But... I got in!!!!!!

Now I have to go give a speech in a class that I no longer need.... Haha.

Goodluck everyone who hasn't heard and I'm sorry to those rejected.

I'm glad someone is in the same boat as me! Do you know exactly how the waitlist works? I know that it's unranked, but say if an OOSer declines...would they replace that person with another OOSer? or is it all together? Thanks!
 
I have no clue! I would think if an OOS declines they would replace it with another OOSer. I dont know though. I was wondering when it said in the letter that 6 individuals from the waitlist were admitted last year if that was just IS waitlisters or IS and OOS combined? Sigh...and I thought the waiting would be over today! haha
 
I know! I can't believe we have more waiting to do!grr! And now I have such mixed feelings as well...my family keeps saying good job and trying to reassure me that it's good news..but somehow I just keep thinking negative things...I just wish we had more information on how the waitlist system works...I don't know what the letter meant either...I thought the waitlist usually had more than 18 on it so maybe that is just about ISers.....
 
Unfortunately, I have to wait another day to find out my fate. I do know quite a few people who applied IS. So far 2 are waitlisted.
 
Tech2vet, my family keeps reassuring me it is good as well...and yet I cant help but find myself thinking negative things. On a positive note, at least it wasnt a rejection (I got rejected last year...which was a total let down), so there is still hope! :luck:

I thought I put out early in the thread about the waitlist. it is a pool. if someone turns down their spot, the committee meets to determine who would best fullfill that spot due to background, experience, interests, etc.

I noticed an old post that said 57 OOSers are waitlisted? Is that correct?

I'm sorry to all that have been rejected...I know the feeling from last year. Maybe next year? It can happen!

Not that I know of (I am only ferreting the details out slowly!). I do know early last semester we lost an OOS who was replaced by an IS.

It may be less of a priority here since one can establish IS in 1 year.
 
Oh, I've actually gone back and read the letter and it says that there are 18 on the alternate list. So, I'm assuming IS and OOS are separate since an OOSer already said their letter stated there were 57 on the alternate list - which is a downer because I'm sure a lot less ISers will be declining admission 🙁
 
Good luck today Wolfpack! This was also my 2nd time applying. I understand the frustration and disappointment of receiving the rejection letter and ended up spreading a wider net this year instead of applying just IS in case that happened again!
 
Thanks Mainecoon. I also spread myself out this year and have a backup school in case I don't get into State. I just really want to get into State. lol

I don't know if it's coincidence or not, but the OOS waitlist letter said 6 people were admitted off the waitlist last year..... So either 6 IS and 6 OOS were let in, or a combo of the two waitlistst (18+57) => 6....
 
Nice Scottiegirl! If I'm admitted, I'll definitely join. Unfortunately, I haven't received my letter yet 🙁

Thanks Scottiegirl, I'm in Fayetteville. I have a friend in Lumberton that hasn't received hers either. Btw, I tried looking for your group and couldn't find it. The link didn't work either.

ScottieGirl, I joined your group. I'm glad you started one. I wanted to start one forever ago but I figured I would wait until in-state people started to hear back and then I forgot about it.

Hopefully my letter comes today. Unfortunately I have to work today (in Wake Forest) and won't be here to receive it if it comes today. My mail comes late (around 4 pm or so) and so I have to wait for my mom to get off work. I'll be at work when she finds out so I'll have my phone on me even though i'm not supposed to...lol. I hate the waiting...

Congrats to everyone who got in, and good luck to those still waiting on letters or on the waitlist!! I remember how excited I was this time last year. Take some time to celebrate! And hopefully we will see you all at the Welcome Weekend festivities. I will be giving a tour!
 
Hey pythonchick, are there things going on the whole weekend? The letter just said Friday. It would be great if there are other things, but I wanted to know to get off work! I can call tomorrow...but I'm sure you know!

I am hardly in the know on these things, but I am pretty sure most if not all of the planned activities are for Friday. I am sure they will send y'all an agenda of some sort soon, but I only remember going to things on Friday for mine. Again, I wouldn't take me word on, calling would probably be best.
 
Yeah, the agenda they sent out said something like "Use this day to look for housing" or something for Saturday. Everything else was planned for Friday.

What time was stuff on Friday? I only took a half day off. Its sounding like I may need to take the whole day off.
 
I got my letter yesterday. It came to my school address rather than my home one for some reason. I got in, but I have a feeling I will be turning it down, though I am not sure yet. If I do, I will let you all know and cross my fingers that one of you get in. Good luck wolfpack!

By the way, what is the Welcome Weekend? Were we supposed to get information on it because I didn't? When is it?

Class of 2014 Welcome Reception​
Friday, April 9, 2010

1:30pm – 4:00pm Tour of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Class of 2013 Slideshow and VETS Fittings.

The tour will include a visit to the Teaching Animal Unit (TAU). Guests who have been outside of the United States 14 days prior to March 26 may not visit the TAU. Please meet at 1:15pm outside of the IAMS entrance (next to the Small Animal Hospital entrance).

You will have the opportunity to "try-on" lab coats, scrubs and coveralls and purchase CVM souvenir items in Green and Blue Commons. Current students will also host a panel discussion where applicants can ask questions about student life/curriculum at NC State. The class of 2013 will provide the "inside scoop" on the first year experience at the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine.


4:15pm – 5:45pm CVM class of 2014 Reception
The University Room at the University Club
Mingle with fellow admitted classmates as well as faculty, staff, and students while enjoying hors d'oeuvres and refreshments.

6:00pm-9:00pm Guest Lecture

9:15pm Informal Social Event (on your own)
Members of the class of 2013 will mingle with you for an informal night of fun at: TBD

Yupyup. That agenda is pretty close to what they had for us last year, though we didn't get the awesome opportunity for a Lecture that night, just the social event. I can't wait to get to meet y'all when you come to campus!
 
Thanks Dreamdance, the letter STILL hasn't come yet. I'm hoping it comes tomorrow, if not....I'll be calling first thing Monday morning. Congrats to all those who were admitted. I have two personal friends so far that will be in the class (who also aren't members of the site)
 
Thanks Risika! Was that in the acceptance packet or emailed or on the website? I'm trying to figure out where to look.
 
It was emailed to me, about a week or so after I got my acceptance letter (I'm OOS).
 
While I am normally not in favor of calling, it might be worth it to do it this afternoon, simply explaining that you know quite a few others have received letters.
 
Well the letter finally arrived. It was a rejection 🙁. It's unfortunate that I won't be there with all you awesome people next year. While I did get into Auburn (and will be there in the fall), I'm super dissapointed. Congrats once again to all those admitted.
 
Wolfpack87, I'm really sorry to hear you didnt get into ncsu, but I am very happy you can pursue your dream at auburn! Unfortunately I have no oos options, so I am just hoping I can get off the waitlist! Best of luck to you! 🙂

Nope, I havent heard a thing! I dont even know if they will start calling on thursday or wait a while for the committee to look at the apps again or what. And I wonder if they will send us an email once they have all seats confirmed so that way we can stop wondering? I couldnt find anything on previous posts about when they start calling etc. 2 more days....I may go insane by then. 🙂 Heres to hoping we hear something on thursday!:xf:
 
Anyone heard anything from NCSU waitlist? Last I heard there are quite a few OOS not accepting their acceptance. Hopefully that is still so. Anyone want to volunteer and call down there to see when they will be letting us know? The wait is killing me!!!!!
