Hi All,
I have been following recent changes to NDBE-1 scoring(and lower percentile)according to the new scoring criterion for candidates taking exams b/w Mar- Sept 07 ,there is a very useful thread in NDBE EXAMS AND LICENSURE EXAMS with a thread called NDBE STANDARDIZATION by DREDAY. It is pretty worrying that candidates taking exam b/w Mar-Sept might score lower than the candidates taking exam before or after these mnths..this might seriously hurt our chances of getting into IDPs or even speciality courses. I urge all of you to email/contact Dr Tsai..I have given the contact details below.

I spoke to Dr Tsai in person at the ADA office today. He had nothing substantial to offer by way of explainations except "we do a lot of analysis before changing the format and scoring methods, which is based on data gathered over many years, there is no plans of re-calibration and Im not sure who is spreading these rumours" However when I asked him to guarantee that our scores wud not be affected by this new system and would not hurt our specilaity dreams, he said that they have been in constant touch with university deans ..but otherwise he simply didn't committ..instead asked me to email him or DR Kramer(he is the director of department of training services at ADA) at [email protected] or fax 312.587.4105, his direct phone no is 312.440.2684. He did not guarantee a direct response from DR Kramer but said that he would show him my email for sure.Do the Moderators/Senior SDN Members have anything to suggest or advise?

It would be helpful if we all could post our respective queries/concerns to him than suffer later when perhaps not much can be done!

Listen, the rules of life always apply to the things we have doubts about. In this case , I would say rumors are just that, rumors.

I know it sounds suspicious that the good Doctor did not divulge a lot of information , but never-the-less, I would not be alarmed by his response. The ADA is notorious for being evasive about giving out information specifically, in my personal opinion, to FTD's. I personally would never give out any of my personal information via fax, emali or otherwise, especially if I was not finished and completely licensed and practicing in America. Call it conspiracy theory or not. I do know this, I am an American who studied abroad and have been trying to get into the system for three years now and I am finally seeing some light as get ready to take part 2. The thing is I have paid close attention to the "system" and have educated myself thoroughly both from the ADA perspective and the ADEA perspective . To tell the truth, I don't even like to post here anymore. To many eyes other then our colleagues are watching. Trust me, the big issue here is that it has been proven by fact, that, the programs have R and D people who will google you and find you here on myspace, facebook ect. and if you in anyway do not meet their general standards you could put yourself in jeopardy. It makes a difference if you have the same grade on your boards versus another.

Although large in part you are accepted and rejected based on GPA and Board school and work/academic experience. Remember getting into a program is about having that edge over another who is equal to you. I still get involved as an advisor here and continue my responsibilities but It is limited to handling conflict issues and postings that are deemed contra-SDN material.

So here is my final thought.

If you study hard and do your part you will score well regardless of rumor or not. Good luck to all who are in the "struggle" as I call it.
