I just took boards part I and want to know what kind of scores I need in order to specialize. Anyone have any idea? Or what kind of formula is used to look at applicants based on their grades and part I &II scores?

Thanks! :luck:

Part I 90+ top 10% is ideal for all specialities. Higher is better.
Also you should work at getting:
1) recommendation x3 for PASS
2) research
3) community service
4) externships - if doing oral surgery
5) ASDA, class officer etc helps
Part II is not a factor unless you apply after graduating

The good positions in the top programs in any speciality are all very competetive....

Overall in my opinion:
Endo is possibly the hardest to get a position
Ortho, and Oral surgery are probably next
Pedo is becoming very competetive
Perio is fairly competetive
GPR/AEGD and Pros are probably the least competitive
I don't know anyone who has applied for oral path

look in the residency forums

natmatch.com also has the PASS statistics

That's amazing! Hopefully they match somewhere 😀

An actual 100 I thought that they make you retake it if you get a perfect score...

I thought 99 was the highest score possible.

That's what I thought.....but apparently if you can claim that you are handicapped and ride on a donkey, they give you that extra point.

I bet that the person who got the 100 is the best student in your class as well. Basically if you get a 100 you are the best and everyone should know it. :meanie:
