Nebraska

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I received an email from them on Nov 30th saying my status was still under review. Guess that means wait list. Did you get in?

I was accepted to Nebraska. I received an email at 12:01 on Nov. 30th.. kinda crazy
I am going to withdraw my acceptance though, so its going to be passed on.. good luck!

I was accepted there at 12:01 also, is there any questions you have?

I am just trying to decide between Nebraska and UMKC. I think I am leaning a bit more towards Nebraska but I didn't know if you have any advice. Also, do you know if they set up living arrangements for people looking for a roommate?

I don't know anything about UMKC, but I really liked Nebraska. The only reason I'm not going there is because my fiancee got into school somewhere else. It is so cheap since they give in state to everyone. Everyone was really nice there, and seemed to really like it there. Their clinics are awesome, and I think the small class size is a huge advantage. I liked Lincoln a lot.. not too big, not too small. I guess it just comes down to what you are looking for.

When I went to visit Lincoln, I fell in love with the place. I heard UMKC was kind of in a bad area, but I don't know for sure and don't wanna spread bad rumors. I have only heard wonderful things about Nebraska, and I think that might be where I decide to attend. Just my opinion.

UMKC is not in that bad of an area. Good luck with your decision!

UNMC has been one of my top choices for 2 years now, but the problem is that I live in CA. I got the word from Glenda Canfield that I won't be offered a spot this year. In fact she said they only accepted one person west of Wyoming.

*sigh*

I have a sister that lives in Lincoln and I thought it was a great town to live and raise a family.

Don't pick UMKC! I am on the wait list, and I need people to NOT pick UMKC so I have a better chance... 🙁

i also got accepted to Lincoln! Woo hoo! I was also wondering if they set up roommate stuff because i've been looking for apartments, but i don't have a roomie... so if anybody is in need of one you should probably PM me! 😀 oh, by the way, i'm female and would prefer a female roomie too!

well i havent made my final decision between nebraska and umkc but i am leaning towards nebraska and would be in need of a roommate! im female also. i will have to get your phone number or e-mail and maybe we could set something up!

So I just talked to Glenda, and she said they send out roommate stuff in the spring. People who want/need roomies that are currently in d-school and the incoming students will be sent the contact info. You just have to call her, and she'll put you on the list!

There will be no 2nd round interview for UNMC this year... and don't bother applying if you're a Canadian.

My application was DENIED because Glenda said there would be no more interviews as of December 1.

renting is soooooo cheap in lincoln....why bother with a room mate?? U can get a single bedroom for like $600 or so.....and the cost of living is dirt cheap...just my two cents...i lived there for the last 4 yrs...room mates generally suck..and then again I'm an at home study type person...I was actually renting a small 3 bedroom ranch house for 650 with a full front and back yard.......now I pay $2000 for a 1 bedroom.........👎......goodluck...oh and I heard you get to get gas your class mates there so thats pretty sweet😎 downside=theres only 45 people in ur class....I dont think I could handle that. upside=UNMC tuition is dirt cheap!! have fun studying ur face off:laugh:

It doesn't look like I'll be going there but for those of you who are, my dad is a mortgage banker in Lincoln and he recommended actually BUYING a place if I was to come there. This likely only applies to those w/ a spouse that will be working, since someone will need to have income to get a loan. Check it out if you fit that bill, you could get some return on your money after 4 years.
