Should Sept 15 be considered a deadline for submitting derm apps? I have a couple of issues:

1) Neither of my derm LORs are uploaded yet :scared: (I contacted both last week...) Can you submit apps without assigning LORs?

2) I have a derm pub that has been provisionally accepted...the turnaround time has been relatively quick so I'm wondering if it would be worth it to wait until it's accepted so that I can list it as such on ERAS?

I appreciate any thoughts =)

It hasnt mattered in the past. Likely with the deans letters coming out sooner now some programs might start looking at apps sooner but I doubt it will matter if you take an extra several weeks for your app.

You could list the pub as "accepted for publication on August 26, 2013"

1) I believe you can "submit" and the ERAS application will continue to "download" apps until complete.

2) would list as either "accepted pending revision" OR wait and then submit. Derm being what derm is, we review all apps and send out all interviews in December or so, regardless of when they were completed .

There is no need to rush to submit on September 15th, especially if you are on the cusp of getting a paper accepted. If you submit revisions by this week, these journal are typically quick to accept so might be worth the wait. In any case, submitting on Sept 18 or 19 instead of 15 is not going to make much difference.

LORs can come in later past when you submit as long as they get in. I'm pretty sure that most letter writers know that ERAS is now being downloaded earlier. They are probably working on the letters and have them ready as far as you know so you can just check in with them. If you let them know that you are submitting, that in itself will serve as a reminder to them. Most are pretty good with their letters though because they know how much this means. Never hurts to check in close to when you submit though.

Submitting up to the program's deadline should not affect your application.
