Most of schools in Canada don't require a LOR from a dentist. How about for US dental schools? Do most schools require a LOR from dentist? Thanks!

Why don't you look at the schools that accept foreigners with low GPA's and then find out their views on the necessity of an LOR from dentist? No sense in looking into schools that will can your app as soon as they see it.

For some schools here in the US, it is a requirment. Most encourage it, but don't require it.

It's almost like an "unspoken requirement" in US Dental Schools. You don't have to have one from a Dentist, but it's strongly recommended.

Is this really true? I mean, if schools don't ask for it, I don't think it can hurt if you don't give them one...

no you're just wrong.

LORs are not required at all for most US Dental schools. There are a handful that requires a dentist-lor in order to complete your application, UNLV is one such school, I dunno any others personally.

UNC will not consider your application without a letter from a dentist. Each school is different- I would check with each one you are applying to.

For the love of God, SmoothOperator, just stop being so indecisive and find a dentist to write you a letter. If you can't find one to do this, then perhaps you should look into another field because perhaps you aren't a suitable candidate. Just my 2 cents.....

Well, there's no harm in getting one anyways, SmoothOperator...if you've got a Dentist who's willing. It can't hurt.

I know one right now. But I don't think he will be a good candidate since I don't know him that well. I won't ask unless it is a MUST and am desperate.

Consider it essential and you should be desperate- you already have the cards stacked against you.

I have to agree. Might as well take advantage of every opportunity you can. If they don't need it, then it can just be a bonus. The only reason to not do it would be if you think he'll write poorly of you; which I don't see happening just because you don't know each other well. Good luck.
