Hello all,

I'm currently taking some post bacc classes before applying to dental school, however I had a snafu last semester in one class that really brought my GPA down, and even with getting a 4.0 this semester, I feel my GPA would still be rather low. Since none of the classes are mandatory for the schools I'm applying to, do I have to list them on my AADSAS application when I apply?

Ok so what is stopping me from not listing them? Would anyone really know? I can't forsee any dental school actually calling up each school in the US to find out if I took non-degree seeking courses... Or maybe I'm misunderstanding something?

On AADSAS, you are required to list all courses taken at all institutions attented. If you don't put it on, you're pretty much lying right off the bat.
But hey, if you don't want to do it, that's up to you.

Ah ok, well if it is required by AADSAS that is a different story. I just was curious if it was demanded by the dental schools or not.

You mean you would not mind lying to dental schools, but you are willing to draw the line at "AADSAS". You do understand that AADSAS represents dental schools, right? Check out the meaning of "professional" as it relates to dentistry.

Slow your roll jelly bean. I meant simply that if it is a mandated requirement on the application then obviously I need to follow it. If it were however just 'common practice' for students but had no real verifiable basis then no, I would have no issue ignoring that non-required stipulation 🙂 Check out 'respectful' as it pertains to online forums. I asked a simple question, looking for a simple answer. Which I got.

Honestly, this whole thread reads more like you trying to figure out if you can get away with not listing courses you took more than you wanting to determine if it's an "actual requirement". Why would it be a common practice made up by students? It's an application process, the rules are pretty rigid.

Perhaps I didn't preface my question eloquently enough to convey my true curiosity. I was curious if it was required because I've been taking a few non-required classes and had an issue with one. I didn't know if it was necessary to list them as they were not required classes for the school I'm applying to. And there is lots of information on this forum that is not necessarily true OR is exaggerated. Only a fool would take information at face value. I merely asked for verification on what stipulated that this is a requirement. @clutchfans was very helpful by posting a concise post stating why it was required and where I could find the exact location of the rule on the application. That is precisely what I was seeking, and more importantly, where this thread should have ended.
