I have a few doubts about the New NBDE along with a couple other doubts. I apologize if the questions have already been answered.

I am a foreign trained dentist in my third year, but I am an American Citizen.

*) Is it possible for me to write the NBDE part one, pass it and join DDS back home without finishing final year of BDS in India?

*) What r the "perks" for a citizen or greencard holder when it comes to getting into the DDS program after getting a BDS degree in India?

*) The new NBDE rules require the candidate to be accepted into a university in order to be eligible to write the NBDE... What criteria will the dental school look for before accepting the candidate?

*) My gpa isnt good... I've just been passing my exam papers with minimum marks here in India... Is that going to matter?

Correction: I will be a foreign trained dentist. 😛

Thank you... I'd very much appreciate any replies.

u can take part1 exam but cannot join dds program without ur degree.

LOANS and some univs only want citizens/ perm residents so u might have an edge over others but thats not always the case

im not sure abt the nbde rule. where did you read tht?
most schools havent decided about the new criteria. nyu wants DAT. we will find out abt other schools by middle of 2012.

talk to someone from india abt it. ECE will evaluate their own GPA. u will find ppl with low gpa who got into schools but with nbde becoming pass/fail. gpa is one thing that will be given more importance

goodluck
