Hy everyone. May anyone help me to answer a few questions that most school ask(will ask) in a terms of " what they want to hear " ?

They are following:

1) What do you feel the most difficult challenge pharmacists will face in the coming years? What would you do to overcome this challenge?

2) Explain why you haave chosen to apply to our school ?

3) Why do you want to become a pharmacist ?

I know it may be not a right thing to ask , but still what people are answering usually on these questions?

Thank you everyone

You should make up your own answers. I think your interviewers want to hear what is from you and not from the general opinions. They can detect all of that of course if you are trying to copy others' ideas.

Thank you.

I am not going to copy or mimic someone's ideas or answers. I am interesting to know what schools want to hear. I know that there some answers that they like to hear from students as right answers. Sure, I don't want to copy answers from anybody. It would not make me better.

👍

IMO, they want to know the REAL you, so there isn't necessarily a "right" answer. They want to see that you're capable of effectively communicating your ideas.

may anyone still suggest me some ideas?? May anyone share here his/her answers? thanks

That doesn't make any sense. You're saying you don't want to copy answers, but if people GIVE you the RIGHT answer on this thread, you will use the "right" answer, and therefore be copying.

These questions are personal to you, and will differ from person to person.

I have read several books on writing personal statements, and all of them say NEVER answer a question based on what you think they want to hear. That makes your answer really boring and indistinguishable from thousands of other applicants - and do you really want that?

What they want to hear is that you've looked into these issues and were able to formulate a reasonable response. Repeating an answer someone posts here does neither you or them any good. Try studying the field if you are actually interested in it.

Greatest challenge is that the pharmacy profession is becoming saturated. What I would do? Not enroll after acceptance so that others may find a job after graduation. If that one person is able to find a job because I didn't matriculate, I have done my part. (Adcoms love this. It shows that you are compassionate and care for others.)

Humor is hard to convey through text. PLEASE do not write that^ lol!

What I did for prof. school apps was read books from the library. Sat there every weekend and just read as much as I could about the profession I was going into. You'd be surprised how much you'd be able to write after that. My personal statement was stellar, wrote 3-4 essays/school w/out any problems. In fact, I felt too opinionated at certain times. Good luck!

I have to agree with this post. OP, you are looking for answers to the questions that are highly personal and individual-response based.

You 😉 are applying to pharmacy school, so why do you want to apply ?

For example if you ask why I have chosen to apply to pharmacy school I would describe a catalytic event in my life when my grandmother died on my hands without her meds and I was alone with her with her at the time it happened. When someone is diying helplessly on your hands and you can't do anything aboutt, it's quite life changing. I was a mere teen at the time and it was a deeply traumatic experience for me that illuminated a possibility of entering a health care, or a pharmacy field.

Obviously the answer will be different for you, that's why I think you need to sit down and do some soul searching. 😉 Why are you applying ?

Thanks everyone. I am working on it already. Trying to use some events from my personal statement.

i laughed when i read the punch line: (Adcoms love this. It shows that you are compassionate and care for others.)

"1) What do you feel the most difficult challenge pharmacists will face in the coming years? What would you do to overcome this challenge?"

MTM reimbursement rate, lower drug reimbursement rates in general, high prescription volumes, market saturation, low patient compliance, you dont like customers screaming at you at the top of their lungs because you didnt fill their meds fast enough, whatever you want to say.

"2) Explain why you have chosen to apply to our school ?"
say: I dont know why i chose to apply to your school. I just like it.

"3) Why do you want to become a pharmacist ?"
you can say:

  • your parents told you to do so.
  • you like chemistry (but you dont want to be a chemist.)
  • you like helping people
  • Yahoo job articles .
  • etc. etc. whatever you want to say.
So, why is it really that you choose pharmacy? Tell us and we can help you./
What really gets your juices going? What about pharmacy brings you joy./

I actually derive joy from dumping people's waste from their dumpsters into a garbage truck and then riding the truck. Thats why I'm a part-time garbage man.

I'm happy with my life. what about you?

say: I dont know why i chose to apply to your school. I asked people on an internet forum, and no one told me what to say. Maybe I liked the way your school name is spelled. It has a nice ring to it.

"3) Why do you want to become a pharmacist ?"
you can say:

  • my parents told me to do so.
  • I like chemistry (but I dont want to be a chemist.)
  • I like helping people (yeah, thats it.)
  • Yahoo job articles say pharmacy is a HOT career.
  • I want to make a fusion between Western medicine and Eastern medicine (what a load of bull crap)
  • Putting pills into a little bottle from a big bottle looks easy enough. (Seinfeld et al. 2006)
  • I got a C in gen chem so I decided to change from pre-med to pre-pharmacy (15% of current pre-pharms)
  • I think i look good in a white coat (little kid mentality)
  • etc. etc. whatever the hell you want to say.
So, why is it really that you choose pharmacy? Tell us and we can help you./
What really drove you over? Maybe, youve worked in a pharmacy before and you find joy in helping another human being learn to take their life-saving medications the right way, or maybe you derive joy from seeing Old Mrs. Johnson's face light up every time she comes into the pharmacy. Who knows?

I derive joy from dumping people's waste from their dumpsters into a garbage truck. Thats why I'm a part-time garbage man.

I'm happy with my life. The question is: Are you gonna be happy in yours?
