I applied to 9 schools total and got invited for interviews to 8 of them. OSU-COM was originally one of my top choices. When I interviewed I absolutely loved it there and I got accepted :soexcited:. That was only my second interview and I won't hear back from the first one for a while since they don't do rolling admission. My question is what should I do about the other interviews? I do have some interests in some of those schools but it's difficult picturing myself choosing any of them over OSU based on my experience there. I love the smaller class size, the family atmosphere among the students and faculty, the fact that the school is associated with a med center in Tulsa for rotations and residencies, it's pretty close to home (I'm an AR resident) and because of that I get in state tuition. I have interveiws at KCUMB, LECOM, VCOM, NSU, KCOM, and WCU. It would be crazy expensive and time consuming to try to go to all of them so I thought I would drop a couple of them but I'm having trouble choosing which ones. I am also concerned about dropping schools before I've visited them or given them a chance. Any advice or insight would be much appreciated.

I was in a similar situation, I had two schools that I knew would trump all other based on proximity to family. I got interviews at many schools but after good interviews at my top two schools (first two interviews) I rescheduled all other interviews until after I heard back from those two. I was accepted at both so I cancelled the rest of my interviews just to save money, my wife was 9 mos. pregnant at the time and Im our family's only income so it was an easy choice for me. Im sure I couldve attended more interviews and Im sure a few more acceptances wouldve been good for my ego. But for me, saving hundreds, if not thousands in travel expenses greatly outweighed having a few more acceptances I would turn down.

So I would say if you feel so strongly about OSU then I wouldnt attend all the others...maybe a few that you are very interested in but I wouldnt do all that traveling if you are set on OSU. But if you have the time and money to kill then why not.

Feel free to bail on all of them, OSU is a great school.

When I was accepted to my #1, everything else got canceled. If you KNOW you will not go anywhere else, than don't waste the faculty time at the other schools. Plus it opens more spots for people waiting in the wings.

Enjoy the next 9 months!

Tricky situation. It's always difficult to cancel interviews when your accepted at a school you love because you never know what else is out there. However, because you have an acceptance from a fantastic school and you love it ... I wouldn't drain yourself financially just to attend more interviews. If I were you, I'd narrow that list down to one or two you are interested in and hit them in one trip (IE go to KCUMB and KCOM and then call it a day). This way, you don't feel like you cut ties with schools you may have loved, but you don't empty your bank account.

I would take a hard look at what is left, what they offer, and attend maybe one or two, just for frame of reference and to eliminate doubt. You'll compare everything at those schools to what you have and will either be encouraged by your choice or think hard about changing it.

Regardless, don't hesitate for a second to drop the interviews you don't want to attend. It'll be paid forward when the slot opens up for someone in need of your slot.

Good Luck at OSU-COM!!

I guess I shouldn't stress about it too much. Most importantly I'm going somewhere next year so the hard part is over with. Thanks for all the advice I really appreciate it.
