Need a mentor

Hi everyone,

I’m a new member and a pre-optometry student. I’m done with my pre-requisites and OAT test, and my grades are pretty decent. I’m going to apply this year; I’ve been in couple of workshops admission’s people of the school but I’m still confused and especially concerned about my shadowing experience and the way that I have to write my personal statement. I really need a mentor, and I would really appreciate any help that I can get.

If you're concerned about shadowing experience, just call around and see if any ODs are willing to allow you to shadow them.

you should try to get whatever shadowing experience you can and try to shadow doctors in different settings. i only shadowed two doctors: one who had a private practice and one who worked for an HMO.

as for your personal statements, take them to a writing tutor several times. i believe i had about 4-5 drafts before i turned them in.
