Hi guys,

I applied to SGU and was accepted there into their Keith B Taylor Global Scholars Program. I have a few interviews for DO schools come April. My stats are 3.1 science GPA/32 MCAT.

SGU said I have a three week window to decide if I want to go there, what should I do in this situation?

I am not willing to wait an extra year to increase my GPA and re apply because my MCAT expires in August.

I have been reading through the threads, and the residency matching issue with Class of 2017 bothers me. I dont want to go through four years of medical school, and then not be able to find a residency.

Any input will be appreciated thanks!

How many interviews exactly? where?

DO school wait lists tend to change a lot by the end of the cycle, and many do get in as late as May at my school. If i were you I'd wait till the absolute last day to decide on SGU. Also try to call those DO schools to see if they can move your interview dates.

Defer your SGU acceptance come up with a medical reason if you need and wait for the DO schools till the last minute. The Caribbean route is getting harder and harder and will be exponentially harder by the time your ready to graduate.

What class are you attending at SGU Sept of 2013, If so take there acceptance and if the DO comes threw withdraw from SGU. You won't lose your deposit. I had the same situation with ROSS. I accepted payed my deposit then withdraw when sgu finally gave me an acceptance letter. I received all my money back from ROSS.

if you absolutely wont consider waiting any longer, then the above advice is good. I know someone who was literally 24 hours away from getting on the plane to SGU when he got off the DO waitlist and he never hesitated for a second to withdraw from SGU.

no clue if he got the deposit back, but it would be worth it even if you lost the deposit.
