I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good hotel for TOURO-NV. close to the school?
Did you rent a car?
was there shuttle service from airport to hotel?
your thoughts on the interview day etc.
THX!

dear Chris, what it seems you are looking for are all info that can be found in the interview feedback section of SDN. a lot of interviewees (including myself) have written paragraphs about the whole Touro-NV interview experience including travel and hotels. Check it out and good luck!

kool thx, I have read a lot of the interview feedback.
I was looking more for specific stuff, location of hotel to the college, need for a rental car, if the hotel or airport provides a shuttle, etc.

Hi, I stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites, 421 Astaire Drive, Henderson, Nevada 89014, 702-992-9292.... great service.. very close to the school... i think it was $75.00 plus tax for the room. The hotel employee actually drove me to the interview site, it was very nice of him. the hotel also serves free breakfast in the morning...ok about the interview...it was ok...kinda tough actually...the toughest question was what is the direction health care is heading, and what impact will technology have on medicine? other than that they ask you specific questions from your personal statement, and your extracurricular activities. the cab companies are expensive, but its still cheaper than renting a car.... just take a cab, dont rent..also after your interview just hitch a ride with someone at the interview back to the airport...theres always someone going to the airport.... ok..if you have any further questions let me know and i'll try my best to answer them...best of luck

oh by the way... there is NO shuttle service to hotels or to interviews....

awesome lastdance, thank you so much!
did you get word from them yet?
GOOD LUCK!

brookliner,
I'm a second year at Touro-NV, here is my advice...

1. Rent a car at the airport, you can then drive yourself to the hotel, drive yourself to get something for dinner, take a look around Henderson, and most importantly drive yourself to the interview. Many people have trouble with cabs and getting there on time (even though Roger Corbman is the coolest AD, I would still want to be on time). Also, you can drive yourself back to the airport, it actually makes the whole thing a lot easier.

2. As far as hotels, Sunset, Fiesta, any of the others mentioned in the interview experience.

3. The questions and difficulty of the interview depends solely on who interviews you and how you interview. Some people will ask what is considered difficult questions (see interview experience) and others will just have a normal conversation with you. If you are a good interviewee, you will be able to get a normal conversation going with just about ANY interviewer. Practice with friends and family, and then practice with someone at your school (like a pre-med advisor). Also, don't forget that most interviewers are watching how you deal with the difficult question, not necessarily worrying about what you actually say.

4. Good luck, you'll do fine, don't stress (as much as you can) 🙂 Everybody is really friendly here, so you will feel much more at ease as soon as you get here.

I had fun during my TUNCOM interview. Mine actually was pretty low-stress. They asked about my MCAT's ridiculous physical sciences score but were really nice about it. The students who gave us a tour and ate with us were just awesome; so down-to-earth and relaxed.

I rented a car, which was CHEAP because I got it on Priceline. You should check it out and name your own price for the rental (it has to be reasonable). I liked having the rental car; I had an extra day in Vegas and drove down to Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. Also got a feel for the residential areas. I stayed at Sunset Station, which was a bit bewildering because of the casino, but they had really nice rooms.

I loved the school. I would have gone there in a heartbeat if I hadn't been accepted to Arizona, which I also loved and where my fiance can more easily pursue his master's degree. Good luck at your interview; definitely don't stress about it!

Yah, I was debating on the same thing as well. I'll be interviewing there Jan 8th. I've opted to stay with a student. Since I'm planning to go a day prior, I'll be taking the taxi. I'm not exactly an experienced driver. I may hyperventilate on the road, and crash into silicon valley.. valleys. GL with the interview!

I just got back today from Vegas, and had my interview yesterday.

In your interview invite letter, you may have seen a list of Touro students willing to let you stay overnight with them, if you should so choose. This was exactly what I did, and it all worked out beautifully - saved me a ton of dough on transport, lodging and food 🙂 I would highly recommend that you consider this as an option.

I got a ride from the airport, to Touro for the interview, from the awesome and very hospitable Touro student I stayed with. I also got a ride back to the airport from an interviewee who had rented a car and was headed to the same place. So at your interview, you should ask around if anyone's leaving for the airport and can give you a ride.

As for the interview, ditto to everything that stretch said. It's fairly low stress. Just be prepared for a few interesting questions like 'If you caught students cheating at an exam in Touro, what would you do', or 'can you name some current trends in healthcare today' etc.
