Dear SDNers, I am in a bit of a jam as to what post-bacc program/master's I would fit into with my current academic situation. I have done plenty of research on programs but now would like advice from the people that have been there, done that.

Expected graduation GPA (I'm a senior): 2.7-2.8
MCAT: 22 1st time, 19 2nd time (I was very sick for the exam unfortunately)
I have taken many upper levels and am taking right now : (Anatomy & Physiology, Histology, Genetics, Cell Biology) and will be taking 2 more next semester.

Many extracurricular, medical experiences.

Obviously I am not ready for medical school, but am hoping I can do some sort of 1 year program or something to put myself in a better situation.

I prefer Osteopathic medicine, but would go into MD or DO.

If any questions feel free to ask. Thank you everybody!

You still have alot of information left out as in how many units you have, location preference, are you looking for a 1 year or 2 year program, do you want to do research, which DO schools do you actually wish to attend, and what is your price range.

Based on your GPA and the information about your classes, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you have too many units to realistically make a substantial GPA improvement by continuing to take upper division sciences. I would also go out on a limb and guess that you probably would not realistically be able to pull enough As in more upper division sciences to truly make a difference either.

Since you listed you want DO schools, I'll make a rough list and you can look into it more.

2 year Masters programs with research:
KCOM MBS
PCOM MBS
LECOM M.S

1 Year Programs:
Touro NV M.H.S (bit of research)
Touro NY Masters
LECOM Post-Bacc/Certificate
PCOM Certificate
VCOM Post-Bacc
Western M.S.
NSU MBS (can be 2 year)
TCOM GSBS
LMU-DCOM Post-bacc
WCU-COM MBS

You can do your own research and find out the tuition costs/linkages and the reputation of each program but that's a rough guideline on the DO "SMPs" that are out there currently.

Might want to look at USF one year masters program. Molecular Medicine, Anatomy, Biotechnology, Womens Health. If you can pull together a good application I think you stand a chance.
