I took the DAT this morning. My breakdown is nowhere near as good as alot of others on here but I'm not toooooo upset about it.

PAT-17
QR - 19
RC - 19
Bio - 17
GC - 18
OC - 21
TS - 18
AA - 19

This was my 2nd time taking the exam...my previous scores are as follows

PAT- 20
QR - 16
RC - 21
Bio - 18
GC - 16
OC - 15
TS - 16
AA - 17

My GPA from undergrad is like a 3.95 over all and same for sciences. I graduated in 2007 and have been out of classes since then until I started two more classes this fall (at the urging of my local admissions director). Looks like I'll get As in these classes unless something goes horribly wrong.

I'm wondering if I should bother taking the DAT for a 3rd time in December. i am applying for entry in july 2012 so my score would come in on the later end of things. But I'm assuming that most schools would want to see my new fall grades before making any decisions about me anyway and those would come in around the same time as my new December DAT score

I'm not unhappy with my scores but I was hoping that my PAT would have stayed up like before. My sciences and math went up overall which I think is probably more important than the PAT

What do you all think?

With such a high GPA I think you should be okay. Just apply early. Retake if you are absolutely sure you can pull up your scores otherwise it's not worth it.

Hey FRSCdds,

I would definitely not think about retaking the DAT unless you don't get in. With your GPA, your DAT scores are 1) all above the threshold for most schools and 2) about the national average. If you apply this cycle and don't get any interviews, even then, it could just be because it's near the end of the applying cycle.

You could either retake the DAT in like March/April and apply for the 2013 cycle, or not retake the DAT and do the same thing and probably be very competitive for most schools.

In either case, I think you're in a good position.

Dude, your GPA's are phenomenal. Did you even bother applying when you were an undergrad / about to graduate?

No. I took a year off to work and have a break. At that time I wanted to do medical school and I took the MCAT but never applied b/c my heart wasn't in it. I waited another year, which is when I started hanging with my dad (a dentist) and doing dental mission work around my state. I didn't get around to applying to dental school until last year and it was at the deadline for my state school so I wasn't surprised when I didn't get in. That was the only school I applied to at the time. this year I'm hoping to get an interveiw at my state school but I'm applying to a few other schools as well.

I'll just keep my fingers crossed for this year i guess. If i have to re-apply again then so be it.
