So for the next semester (Fall 2020), my tentative schedule is this:
Bio II + Bio Lab (my school only has one semester of Bio Lab) = 5 credits
Chem = 3 credits
Mandatory Core Class = 4 credits
Intro to Neuroscience = 4 credits
Chinese = 2 credits

Does my schedule sound okay? I'm done with Physics I + Physics II (both with labs). I'll be a sophomore starting fall. I'll also be a RA next semester.

Are the mandatory core courses non-science/non-math?

The mandatory class is a humanities class. Personally, I struggle the most with humanities and writing classes, since English is not my first language.

Personally, I think 18 credits is a lot, especially if you are an RA, volunteering, doing research, etc.
I don't plan on volunteering and doing research during the semester because I plan on doing them during the break (I won't go home). Do you think that would be reasonable?

I would limit to 15 if you need lot of time for humanities and writing classes.

Please, unless you're certain that you can handle more than 17, do NOT overload yourself! My spring semester of my freshman year I did 17 credits, and I was miserable the entire time. I ended up getting only one A and all Bs during that semester because I was overwhelmed. It's ok to take a lighter load!

I'll try to do that. My academic advisor is constantly pressuring me on taking 18 credits because of graduation requirements...

Consider summer options? Some courses might not all be 5-6 weeks in length over the summer, with the exception of science courses. My English class was 14 weeks, only 3 less than a regular semester. I'm so happy I got rid of English over the summer because I dislike writing and it can be time-consuming.

That's 16 per semester. No AP credits or summer classes?
I don't have AP credits since I didn't go to an American highschool. Do you know if there are summer schools that give scholarships to international students?

Do you know if there are schools that offer aid/scholarships to international students for summer classes? My school doesn't offer any.
