Hi guys, first off I want to say that I know I can get some help by using the search function but I want some help that is specific for my case. TBH, typing in post bacc programs in the search function gave me too many fillers too. Please just hear me out and give me the best advice, thanks.

I had a bad undergrad career and my gpa suffers because of it. I was unmotivated at the time and now I want to do medicine. I want to get into a MD program but my grades aren't good enough to get me in (3.1) . I am retaking my MCAT so I don't know what I'll get yet but I guess that is not the main concern of this post. I am trying to come up with backup plans. I will try to apply to DO schools and my state MD program this cycle. I am truly not too concerned about getting the MD or DO, but the reason that I am a little concerned is the merger of the residency in 2015. Some people say it will be harder for DOs to get into residency. My plan right now is to retake some classes during the summer and next year so that it will make my grades more competitive for DO programs. At the same time I will try to look for post bacc programs with linkage if possible (or programs that can help students get into MD, and preferably one year programs). Can you guys help suggest the best post bacc programs out there? Also if you guys have any advice regarding what I should be doing in order to be competitive for med schools, feel free to do so and I will glad to hear them. Thanks in advance.

I heard Georgetown and Drexel are pretty good SMP programs. I am not too familiar with them, it's just something I picked up reading the forums. Maybe you can look into those.

You are not dumb! I had a friend get into a DO school that had a 25 MCAT and a 2.5 GPA. He is doing a post bacc that guarantees acceptance as long a 3.5 GPA are maintained.
A lot of students applying to these programs have a bad background academically (me as well). I graduated with a 3.3 and applied to 10 post baccs. So far I have been accepted into a few and wait-listed for 2. I called every school and spoke with the directors and made a connection. Who you know always helps. Try calling people it will certainly serve in your favor.

You can do a search of post baccs on the AAMC website

Best of luck
