I have a bachelor's degree in biology and an overall gpa of 3.1. Gre is 800(not good i know) and I have worked at an animal hospital for 5 years. I have applied numerous times to the vet school in my state and have not got accepted. I finally decided, being 27 years old that I need to apply to out of country vet schools.
I got accepted into Ross vet prep program for Jan 2011. I have read about ross and am somewhat familiar to what people have said about it but have found little on the vet prep program. The way it works is you must pass every class, and you only get one chance, and then you are admitted into the vet program. (i know i can pass the classes as long as I apply myself, with any vet school you have to pass so this wasnt that big of a deal to me.) Is anyone familiar with this program? Know anyone that has went through the program succesfully? or unsuccesfully?
I have applied to sgu as well and have an interview coming up. If i get accepted there I think I would prefer to go there..

any comments questions about this topic is appreciated.

Have you thought about taking an extra year of classes to boost your last 45 (trend) GPA and your science GPA by taking all -ology classes (immunology, virology, etc.)? Why not take the GRE again before the 2011 deadline to boost that score too? I know you are concerned about the age thing and the multiple applications but is one more year of trying for a state school really going to be that big of a deal? Going to an island school is going to put you in serious debt.

I think waiting a year would also help with your Ross and St. George applications. Maybe you wouldn't have to participate in the prep courses and could be directly admitted into the veterinary program. And who knows, maybe you would get into your in-state school on this last try.

In the pre-veterinary forum there are some posts about Ross/St. George that were very informative about the environment, cost, professors, classes, etc. Sorry I don't know anything about the program. I just thought I would give you my two cents on the reapplying situation. I didn't get into my in-state school the first two times, seriously considered going to St. George, was talked out of it so I could reapply and now I am in the class of 2014! I am very glad I took the time to reapply... I think you will be too. By the way I'm only a year younger than you if that makes you feel any better.

I went to Ross Pre Veterinary program and passed it successfully. Before you sink the money into it my suggestion is to jump on facebook and find some people that have been through it recently. Ross is a different beast than it was just a couple of years ago. They are constantly changing and some of the changes are good and some are bad. Good luck and I wish you the best.
