I submitted my application on June 9th and my LOR's have been sent. I've done most of my secondaries already. I applied to 10 schools (2 in state, 3 out of state, 7 private). I have a 3.87 cGPA and a 3.83 sGPA with a degree in Bioengineering, 70 hrs shadowing, great EC's, and a thesis completed. I plan on taking my DAT on August 21st and I think I can do well (>20) if I really buckle down and do 12 hour days.

Is taking the DAT on the 21st too late? Do most schools let you fax in your scores?

I'm from PA and my top choice is Temple.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone? I've read a lot of the posts about taking the DAT in late August or so and there's a very mixed bag of answers. Some see to think that as long as everything else is in and you have a good GPA it doesn't really matter. Any thoughts on the matter would be really appreciated.

My take would be that it's already July 21st, and you have a month. You probably need time to study, and a month is just what you need. But make sure you study to get an awesome score , that is, 21- 25, you should be great. Your GPA and experience seems great. At this point, considering your time constraint, it is better to get a good score and be 'late" than get something below 20. Good luck 🙂

Is it that difficult to get a 21? I have a rock solid background in Gen Chem and QR, but my OChem and Bio needs some work although I seem to be picking up the material very quickly. Ive been using Kaplan and Destroyer and have CRACK DAT PAT software. You think I should be okay if I bust my hump for the next few weeks?

HELLZ YEAH! All you need to do is practice, practice, practice, and relax.
Remember these four words.
Practice at the time you plan on taking the DAT.
Once a week, take the whole DAT.
The rest of the days, alternate between sections. For example, when I was studying. MWF were my sciences and PAT days. Tuesday and thursday were my RC/QR Days. Saturday, I took a full DAT. Sunday, I relaxed and checked my answers from Saturdays test.
Focus on what you are weak on, but do practice your strong points once or twice a week too.

Most importantly, MAKE A SCHEDULE AND STICK TO IT. But Relax. If you aren't relaxed while taking your practices, you won't be when you are taking the real thing.

Good luck.

Oh and destroyer is amazing, but also take advantage of kaplan's online tests. You need to get good at clicking quickly while taking notes.
When you don't have Internet, or just chit chatting with friends, sit down with your Kaplan flash cards and make them quiz you. Lol

No it's not too late, that's when I'm taking it. I am in your exact same situation. I have a good app and it has already been mailed in. I think it would be late if you couldn't fax your scores. Or maybe a little on the later side if you had bad stats. But the schools I really care about let you fax.
