I have a 3.36 and a 3.21 science gpa (this includes an upward trend of a 3.6 and a 3.7 for the last 2 semesters, which will continue this year)

highest DAT score was 18AA/18TS (although I did take it again and get a 17/17)

So my gpa should def go up again this fall, but I know I did bad on the DAT, im going to retake it but I cant until august.

I have 56 hours shadowing, 12 hours volunteering, and a part time job 20-25hr week

Honor society and deans list and all of that also

So I was planning on applying to these schools (I live in Orlando, Fl)

the thing is $$ is an issue all of these schools cost alot to apply to..

NYU
UF (I live in orlando)
Tufts
Western or Midwestern not sure yet
Temple

I was considering BU but I dont know if they take mostly people from Mass

I have been on predents.com

What do you guys think?

As an early applicant do I have a shot?

If not what other schools do you think?

I think with your stats you need to apply to more schools. Apply to BU, they don't accept only Mass residents. Do you have the adea guide to dental schools? You should look through that and pick schools that have similar stats to yours.

i think there was a post somewhere by doc toothache showing which schools look at your highest DAT score, which schools look at your most recent one, and which ones look at an average of the two (or 3 if u have taken it 3 times). look for the schools (privates preferably) that look at your highest and apply to those. if you apply to schools that look at your most recent ones, then they will look at the 17/17 and not the 18/18
