Hey guys

I'm going to start my prep for step 1 as asa IMG who is a us national.

I need alot of help and need to revise and relearn the course for usmle step 1.
Just wanted to know based on people's experience on what material is the most effective.
DID
Conrad Fischer
Dr najeeb
Kaplan
First Aid
What exactly is the best combination of video and print material

Also what score is appropriate for an IMG to be competitive and pretty good to obtain an ER residency

Thanks

It depends on (1) how strong of a foundation in the basic science material you feel you have. It also depends on (2) how much time you have to study. Americans generally do UFAP UWorld, First Aid, and Pathoma during dedicated time which is usually around 5-6 weeks, give or take a week. But there is a ton of variation in recommendations and advice, you have to do what best fits you and your specific needs.

For emergency medicine the average Step 1 is 230s and Step 2CK 240s for Americans so you'll probably need higher. Probably 240s and 250s respectively. You'll also need an SLOE, at least one if not more, that's pretty much mandatory for EM. That means doing away rotations in the US. See NRMP for IMGs for all the relevant data.
