Hello!

I am a junior in college. I planned to take the MCAT on May 20th. I haven't been studying as much as I've wanted to and got a 485 on my first practice. I’m aiming for a 505 -510.

My stats are as follows:
I am a Hispanic Female, Inland empire ties, seventh day adventist.

GPA 3.0 with an upward trend,
Hospital volunteering: 90 hours in the last 5months.
30 hours total of shadowing.

I do recruitment at elementary/middle school/high school to spark an interest in science and math to the younger generation. I taught kids how to do different science experiments. I feed the homeless, work with a school club on different community service projects: beach clean ups, toy drives for children’s hospital, etc.

I have heard to apply as soon as possible so that I could have a good chance in getting in. I've been debating on whether to push my exam date back until June 2nd because I don't feel ready. But the scores won’t be released until July. Is that too late for an applicant like me, trying to get into an MD school?

Do not take the MCAT until you are likely to get a score consistent with success. You are nowhere near ready to take the MCAT. Your application has at least year of work before you are a good candidate for Loma Linda (your best bet). Their 10th% MCAT is around 501. Their 10th% gpa is 3.54. Why don't you give a them a call?

I’ve also been doing research for 2 years and I am getting ready to publish this summer. I am also a supplemental instructor for Genetics and a tutor for chemistry. What else can I do to improve my application?

Have a gpa above the 10th% for your target schools and a much better MCAT.
Research is the icing on the cake. There still has to be cake.
Which Hispanic community do you represent? Language skills?

I am Mexican and Guatemalan, and I speak fluent Spanish.

With sustained evidence of academic excellence and an MCAT >505 you should get interviews.
I must stress: do not take the MCAT until you are likely to get a score consistent with success. With your undergrad record, you really need a strong showing. You need to get A's this year!
