hi, i have 2 rather atypical premed classes to choose:

1 belongs to bio dept : writing for biologist
the other belongs to math dept: discrete math

the bio class is more like an intensive ENGL class with emphasis on biological research paper writing. i personally hate writing paper and doing library research.
i've taken calculus I + II and gotten As on them.although i have no idea how hard the math class is, it seems pretty light-loaded compared to the bio class.

advice anyone? which class looks better on transcript and more appealing to admission?

thanks!

The bio writing could help in doing research if you're interested in research. You really don't need to go past calculus for pre-med unless you're an engineering major. I may be biased because I don't like calculus, so anything beyond that 😱.

It doesn't sound like either class is a good fit for you. You hate writing for the first class, and you want to take the second class because it looks easy even though you have no idea of what its true difficulty is like.

Ditto. Although it you must take one or the other, enroll in bio writing. You'll use it over and over and over if you have any interest in advanced degrees/academic med/etc.

i guess i don't mind taking either of them when it comes down it. i m not interested in neither research nor engineering ... i was just wondering which class would look more appealing to admission.

If you don't really need either of those classes and you're not interested in those areas...you might want to think about taking a course in a subject you like, rather than taking something just to impress the adcoms. That way, if it comes up in an interview, you'll sound excited about it and will be able to talk about it more easily. I took a ceramics course last semester because I'm into art and it came up in my committee interview 🙂
