Hi everyone!

These are my stats:
cGPA: 3.53
sGPA: 3.33
BCP: <3.00

DAT: 18AA/19TS/18PAT..... 15 in QR

My question: Should I apply now? Or should I wait until July 12th when Summer science courses are over so my BCP will be >3.00? I have heard a variety of things. I heard it's better to apply asap with low stats, but I also heard it might be better to wait for grades.

These are all the schools I am considering to apply to:

Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine
Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health
University of Southern California Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry
Western University of Health Sciences
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine
Indiana University
University of Kentucky
University of Louisville
Tufts University
Boston University Henry M Goldman School of Dental Medicine
University of Detroit Mercy
Creighton University
New York University
UT Houston
Baylor
UT San Antonio

Thanks!! 🙂

its not like the 2.9 BCP is THAT MUCH different than a 3.1. If they don't like the 2.9, chances are, they aren't gonna be impressed by the 3.1 either.

apply now and get it outta the way.

<3 Thanks Dental Works! 🙂

Are my school selections okay?

Yes, that's correct 🙂 I will add those two schools also. Thank you!!

I would add Marquette and Nova also babe if you aren't running low on app funds.

How does it look to a committee if an applicant is applying to both medical and dental school.
If I were in your situation, I would bite the bullet and complete a 2-year-post bacc/masters program if I don't get in this cycle. Apply this cycle and see what happens. I'd also retake DAT right after preparation.
Also, summer classes won't show the amount of improvement that committees are looking for, I don't think.

Yea, that's my plan 🙂 If I get rejected, I'm planning to apply to a postbacc program at Baylor.

Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine is now a dental school also. This is the exact name that is listed on the AADSAS application 🙂

i would redo the DAT if you have the time to take it again. It is ok, but not anywhere near amazing. If you do a stellar job on the DAT, then you might have a better chance of getting interviews. your gpa will not change drastically, but your DAT score can and an improvement in that looks good too.

Also, do you have a upper trend in your gpa?
