Hey guys, so I'll be doing a 1 year masters program starting this fall, but I'll also be applying for dental schools this summer as well. This is where I need advice. I really want to attend a school in the west coast, hopefully UW (my state school), so I was planning on just applying for the few along the west coast. Would it be smart to just apply to the few west coast schools this year and if I don't get in just apply more broadly next year, or would it be better to just apply broadly this year and just attend whichever one I'm accepted to? Part of the reason I'm doing this masters is so that I can hopefully get into one of the west cost schools.
Stats: oGPA by graduation: ~ 3.25
sGPA ~ 3.0
DAT: taking in april

Depends on what your extracurriculars are like and what you score on the DAT.

If your extracurriculars are above average and you score 21AA with no section 18 or lower, then in your position I would apply this June to 4-8 schools, depending on how confident I feel and how much money Im willing to spend. If you score 22AA or higher your chances are much better and, in your place I would then apply broadly to 10-14 schools. Also if you get a 4.0 or near (at least a 3.7) in your 1st semester of masters, doing an academic update will help a ton.
