Hi all,

I was recently waitlisted at my top choice medical school.
One of my interviews was with a member of the adcom at the school, and she spent most of our conversation trying to sell me on the school and on the city, so I was a little surprised/confused at the decision...perhaps I performed poorly in the other interview, etc.

However, what's done is done, and I was wondering if it would be appropriate for me to email her for feedback/further advice on how to proceed.

Lots of people ask universities to which they were not accepted for feedback. However, usually that occurs at the end of a completely unsuccessful cycle. Calling now may be viewed as slightly distasteful as you were just recently waitlisted and not rejected. Another option you may wish to try would be sending a letter of intent. There seems to be mixed opinions on LOIs here on SDN but I for one don't see a problem with it. Express your interest and if possible, and even better, if you have any significant updates, you can include those in the letter as well.

To answer your question simply, though, I wouldn't call just yet. Take my opinion with a grain of salt however since I am simply a pre-med!

Good Luck whatever you choose!

More than just interview performance goes into acceptances - at most schools, the entire app is reviewed again when deciding on decisions

There is still a chance you can get in off WL so I don't think there is any reason to seek counsel just yet. Best you can do is wait it out till traffic day and pray there is a bunch of movement. Send in an LOI if you really feel like it.

Just be patient. The decision has already been made.
