Hi,
Im currently taking organic chemistry 2 and I am struggling alot with it. I'm really debating with whether I should drop the course or not. On my first test which is 20% of the grade I got a 25 and on my first quiz which is worth 6.67% I got a 50. I still have another test, the final, and 2 quizes left but I'm not sure if I can bring my grade up to atleast a B-. The upcoming test is worth also 20% and the final is 35% and all recitation quizes and add up to 25%. My professor curves so that a 50-63 is a C and a 64-80 is a B and an 81 and above is an A.

I have a few reasons why I dont want to drop it. Firstly, ill need to take a gap year since all my classes would need to be delayed. Secondly, ill only be taking 10 credits which is less than full time so that looks bad. Thirdly, I'll have a W which looks bad since I had to take another W once when I was a freshman. Lastly, I don't want to give up so soon. But at the same time a part of me feels like I should drop it since if I don't drop it and end up getting a C It'll kill my GPA and I really can't afford another C since I got a C- in gen chem 1 and D in gen chem 2. Also, If I did drop it I would take it during the summer where it would be my only priority and I can get a good professor so I believe I would do alot better. I'm currently taking organic chemistry 2 (lecture + lab = 5 credits), genetics (3 credits), statistics (4 credits), and intro sociology (3 credits) which is in total 15 credits. I'm sorry for the long rant I'm just really torn on what I should do. Thanks in advance for any advice you give.

Make sure to to consider the fact that dropping below full time might mean that you lose all or part of any scholarships.

Edit: Also, if you haven't already, you're going to have to retake gen chem 2 and ochem 1, as your grades won't meet the requirements for most medical schools.

Thanks for your response. In my situation I don't receive any aid and im fortunate that my parents pay my tuition since I go to a very cheap state college. I did well (relatively) in orgo 1 with a B-. I was talking about gen chemistry 1 and 2 that I did bad in. Sorry for the mix up. I'll edit my post

Ah sorry! Well either way any pre-req that was below a C will need to be retaken.
