I work in full time in retail and I have a per diem job at a hospital that I like a lot more. My one year contract is about to end soon and I was about going to try to either transfer or try to find a new full time job closer to home. My current location is rural and far from family. However, it looks like both my manager and technicians are planning to leave as well. I don't want to inherit PIC, especially without a staff. It just seems like a terrible situation.

Would it be a good idea to leave asap and just work more hours with the hospital and use the extra time to apply to jobs closer to home?

The only advice I have is follow your instincts. Are you very employable? If you are then take some risk and jump from job to job if need be.

I would never leave your current full-time job until you have another one lined up. Double so if you are planning to move back to a saturated city.

Wouldn’t leave a full time job without something definitive in the pipeline.
