I can't afford to go to a post-bac program and I can't afford to go to my state university. I can afford CC but so many say that going to a CC is bad. What should I do?

This is a tough one....however, I think that we are all in the same vote. The normal, average student doesnt have 10 or 20K for a post bacc program sitting in their piggy bank at home nor does the average student have 6K to take one science with lab course at a 4 year private institution or even a state school. However, not to be rude, but here in America you can take out loans which will assist you in this process. it sucks and its expensive and you will in debt up to your eyeballs until you are probably 90, ok so, your great grandchildren may end up with the bill some day. But, one thing sure is true, it is definitely available and offers those of us with the opportunity of becoming physicians one day. Be thankful you live in the US and not some third world country where you would not even be able to think about this dream coming true, ever!

Although you may be able to afford CC, yes, adcom's, for the most part, look down on it. However, I know of some people who have gone through community college, gotten all A's and have applied to medical schools. What medical schools is a totally different ball game. In other words, if you plan on going to medical schools like Temple, or NYU, then I think you may want to reconsider CC.

Unfortunately, to become educated, unless you win the lottery, you will have to sacrifice something, whether its being without an income, or having to take out a lot of loans, you must think that this is an investment that noone can take away from you. What you learn you keep for yourself and well being for your lifetime, and then you can apply it any way you wish. Keep this in mind!

This is just my opinion, there are a lot of threads on this forum that talk about this, take a look through. 😀
