To make this short I am confused on whether or not I should take the DATs over again. I just recently took them and received a AA- 19, TS-19, but a PAT of a whopping 14😡 . My gpa is around 3.3ish and have participated in research and shadowing etc. I have contacted some schools and most of them have just told me that a 14 is the bare minimium to apply and thats all they tell me. I am just worried that just because I received a real bad score on the PAT that my chances to gain acceptance will be ruined. I don't want to take the PAT to just try to bump my PAT score up a couple points and then go down in other things, which I could see happen since if I take it again I will have less time to study. It is just pretty frustrating and wanted to know if anyone has or had been in the same situation or had any advice for me? I will be applying to mostly private schools (BU, NYU, etc.). Thanks for any help guys.

If the d-schools are telling you 14 is the bare minimum, then I'd interpret that as telling you to retake. Personally, I'd retake if I were you. My thinking is that your stats are just normal (not great, not bad), so you can't afford to have that 14 PAT outlier. Don't risk it. Just retake and bring up the score. Also, apply right now too with the score you have, and submit the new score when it comes. Again, this is just my opinion.
