Ok, I really need some advice so please don't flame me. So far, I've gotten interviews at Rochester, Temple, Tulane, GW, Saint Louis, and now Wake Forest. I am getting really poor and it's still very early in the interview season. I'm thinking about removing Saint Louis off my list. It's so expensive to fly there, but I don't know where I'm going to get in. If Saint Louis ends up being the only school to admit me, of course I'm going. However, what I'm feeling right now is that if any of the other schools offered me admission, I'd probably turn Saint Louis down. Of course, I've never visited the school, so my feelings could easily change.

Any advice on how bad it would be if I turned down the Saint Louis interview? If I turn down Saint Louis and all the other schools waitlist me indefinitely, I'm going to kick myself. Should I just keep interviewing until I get an acceptance? Thanks in advance for your help!

I think you should go to SLU interview and keep going to interviews until you have an acceptance. I know the whole process is very expensive but if you can get money at all, you should go. Congrats on so many early interviews!

Thank you for responding! I received the same advice from another experienced SDN member via PM. I think you're right. It would be too risky not to go. I wonder if starbucks is hiring...

Wow, you have so many interview invites already. Congrats. I actually took a year off before applying because i'm poor. I know how expensive everything gets. And Starbucks pays less than 10 an hour. that's a lot of hours before youll get enough money. Go to a temp agency and get at least 12/hour.

Good luck with interviews and congrats again.

Hey, thanks for the advice and complements. You're right, why sell myself short at Starbucks?

Congrats on your interviews! I wish I had them, and I don't know that I'll get them. Could you postpone your interviews till later date at SLU or any other schools? I know that most of them are rolling admissions so your chances may decrease; however, if you have monatery issues maybe you could save up money during the period that you pushed back. During the waiting period you may get acceptance at other schools, and you may not have to goto SLU interview at all. If I were in your spot, I'll just schedule my interview later in the year.

Good luck on your interviews!

wow i work $7/hr

but then again i paid amcas with my parents credit card last saturday...i will haveto lay it down on them slowly..but within this billing period..good news is that it was only 8 schools ...even sir drake fears the paternal wrath!
i cant help memorizing numbers...and credit cards are such short sweet ones BAH!

If I were you I wouldn't drop any schools at this point. you need to go to all of the interviews, I mean what if that is the only acceptance that you get? make sure you think before you act!! good luck. 👍

Unfortunately until you recieve an acceptance your locked in to the spendy interview cycle. It's really hard to guess where you'll have sucess, I was wrong in every guess I made. Good luck.

Never ever turn down interviews UNTIL you have one acceptance in your hot little hand. Getting interviews and getting accepted are two different things....although yes, if you are getting many interviews this means that you are very competitive you just never really know. What you can do is schedule some interviews for after october 15th and then hopefully you will have one acceptance...

definitely go! Until you have an acceptance, of course. Some people on SDN would give their left arm for an interview (kinda like there are starving kids in africa)...so you've gotta go. 🙂

Put a smile on Visa/Mastercard/AmEx's faces...when you're a doctor making 6 figures, it'll all even out.
