I just got rejected today from the only school at which I interviewed (my state school 🙁 ). I think the best thing to do is to retake the DAT. I'm planning on applying in May (first day it opens up) but I want to retake the DAT in august. This is so that I can spend 3 months studying for it. I know I will do better because I only studied for 3 weeks the first time and felt totally unprepared. What should I do when I apply, call each school and tell them to hold my application until they get the new DAT scores? Will I still get the "applied early" advantage? If I don't hold my applications, I'm afraid I'll be rejected before they get my new scores.

you could start studying now and retake it in may

I have a pretty hefty schedule right now and I want to keep my GPA up. I want to KILL this test, so I'm planning on spending 10 hours a day studying for it.

Yes a retake would help your application but I would try and target June or July atthe latest. Applying early will help as well but the schools wont consider you app until your DAT has been received so a late DAT will negate an early AADSAS submission.

hey jdoc- i like that bible verse- i wrote it at the top of my scratch paper during the DAT!!

apply the first day it opens, and write that you are planning to take the DAT in august. they don't start going thru apps that early anyways. study for the summer and ROCK THE DAT! then send your new DAT scores to the schools that you applied to, and call them to let them know that you have re-taken it.

hope that helps. i did a similar thing, but ended up retaking in January! so you'll be fine!

Where would I write that I am planning on taking it later? In the PS?
