Basically, I'm debating whether I should take physics over the summer at a community college or take it at my college during the year. Does one look better than the other ? I went to the first day of the summer class and proff said that he doesnt teach and we have to read on our own. Will this later impact my mcat score ? THANK YOU !

What does a community college instructor do, if not teach?

I get it. He must be writing NSF grant proposals.

IMO, there's no reason to take a class in the summer if you don't have to. Since you want to learn the subject better, take the class that will teach you better. Try to avoid taking any premed prerequisite classes at community colleges. If you have to take classes during the summer to graduate on time or something, it'd be better to take non prereqs, especially if the prof is saying you'll be teaching yourself.

Do not take pre-med prerequisites at a JC if possible, because some med schools don't accept them as fulfilling a prereq if it comes from a JC.

I would say take it at your 4 year college. Perhaps there are other non-core classes that you can take at a community college to lighten your load?

If you're already at a university, going to a community college during the summer is frowned upon. No matter how well you do in them, it's still a downward trend.

If you're at a community college, transferring to a university next year, there's nothing wrong with taking summer classes there BEFORE you start the university.
