Apply to med schools after your senior year/after you have graduated from undergrad. This will then ensure you that you will be absolutely focused with your classes. You can then aim high grades and achieve a strong cumulative gpa.

In addition, this will ensure you that you will be tremendously focused with your mcat studies once you finish undergrad. You want to take the mcat only one time and to do so will require your dedication and commitment.

Another 1.5 years of strong grades could do wonders for your GPAs and get you closer to the cGPA/BCPM GPA means for those accepted to AMCAS schools for fall 2010 of 3.67/3.61.

Many applicants decompress their academic schedule while they study for the MCAT, so don't hesitate to do likewise.

i strong advise you not to try an tackle the MCAT while taking 17hrs...social suicide! you should consider applying after your senior year...it may give you an advantage and allow you to increase both your sGPA and cGPA while making a pretty good score on your MCAT. be prepared to have interviewers ask why you took a year off and what you did during that time. Hope this helps make your decision easier. Good Luck!
